Your Four-Day Itinerary

Day 01 Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi as you travel south toward Amboseli National Park. The journey gradually leaves behind the bustle of the city and enters a world of open plains, traditional Maasai homesteads, and sweeping views of the countryside. Then, almost without warning, Mount Kilimanjaro appears on the horizon. Towering above the landscape at 5,895 metres, its snow-capped peak seems almost unreal against the African sky.

Arrive at Amboseli in time for lunch before heading out on your first game drive. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant populations, and it rarely takes long before the first herd comes into view. Families move gracefully across the plains, calves tucked safely between towering adults. Nearby, zebras graze alongside wildebeest, while giraffes browse the acacia woodlands.

The park's varied habitats support an impressive range of wildlife. Swamps fed by underground water from Kilimanjaro attract animals throughout the year, creating a rich concentration of life in an otherwise dry landscape. As the afternoon unfolds, keep watch for lions resting in the shade, buffalo gathering near wetlands, and the countless bird species that thrive throughout the park. Return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay beneath the shadow of Africa's greatest mountain.

Highlight: First Sight of Kilimanjaro Peak & Glacial-Fed Marsh Tracking
Day 02 Full Day Amboseli National Park Exploration

The African bush is at its finest in the early morning, and today begins before the sun fully claims the sky. Set out on a sunrise game drive as Amboseli slowly awakens. The cool air carries the scent of damp earth and wild grass. Birds fill the morning with song while wildlife emerges from the soft light of dawn. Predators often remain active during these early hours. Lions patrol their territory before the day's heat arrives, while hyenas return from their nightly activities looking suspiciously satisfied with themselves.

Meanwhile, herbivores spread across the plains in search of fresh grazing. Elephants march steadily through the landscape, their silhouettes often framed against the magnificent backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. A visit to the seasonal Lake Amboseli offers another perspective on the park's rich ecosystem. During wetter months, the lake attracts large numbers of animals and birds. During drier periods, the exposed lakebed creates dramatic scenery that seems to stretch endlessly toward the horizon.

Throughout the day, explore different regions of the park, each offering unique wildlife encounters and spectacular photographic opportunities. As evening approaches, Kilimanjaro often rewards patient visitors by emerging fully from its veil of clouds, creating one of Africa's most iconic views. Return to your lodge for dinner and another peaceful night in the wilderness.

Day 03 Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park or Ziwani

After breakfast, bid farewell to Amboseli and continue your safari adventure toward your next destination.

Option 1: Tsavo West National Park
For travellers choosing Tsavo West, a completely different landscape awaits. Unlike the open plains of Amboseli, Tsavo West is rugged, dramatic, and full of geological wonders. Volcanic hills rise from the landscape, lava fields stretch across the horizon, and dense vegetation creates an atmosphere of mystery and discovery. Explore the crystal-clear waters of Mzima Springs, where hippos wallow beneath the surface and crocodiles drift silently through the pools. Visit the famous Shetani Lava Flow, a vast expanse of black volcanic rock that tells the story of powerful eruptions from centuries past.

Option 2: Voyager Ziwani Camp
For those seeking a quieter and more intimate experience, Voyager Ziwani offers a peaceful retreat on the edge of the wilderness. Surrounded by open plains and enjoying spectacular views toward Mount Kilimanjaro, the camp provides a slower pace that perfectly complements the excitement of the previous days. Nature walks, birdwatching opportunities, and optional night game drives reveal a different side of the African bush. As darkness settles across the landscape, nocturnal wildlife emerges, transforming familiar surroundings into an entirely new world.

Whether you choose Tsavo West or Ziwani, the day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay in one of Kenya's most beautiful wilderness settings.

Highlight: Mzima Springs Hippos & Volcanic Beds OR Dusk Frontier Night Tracking
Day 04 Return to Nairobi

Wake to the final morning of your safari and enjoy breakfast surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness. Soon it is time to begin the journey back to Nairobi. The drive offers a chance to reflect on the experiences of the past four days. The elephant herds of Amboseli. The towering presence of Mount Kilimanjaro. The dramatic landscapes of Tsavo West or the peaceful beauty of Ziwani. The early mornings, unforgettable wildlife encounters, and sunsets that seemed determined to outdo themselves each evening.

As the countryside gradually gives way to the capital's skyline, the safari may be coming to an end, but its memories remain vivid. Arrive in Nairobi later in the day carrying photographs, stories, and a deep appreciation for one of Kenya's most spectacular safari regions. Some people travel to see wildlife. Others come for the landscapes. Amboseli has a habit of making you fall in love with both.
