Safari Itinerary

5-Day Kenya Safari Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
Morning (7:00 AM)
Your driver-guide picks you up in Nairobi. You drive north into the Rift Valley. You stop at the Rift Valley Viewpoint for panoramic photos and to browse local curios.
Afternoon (12:30 PM)
You arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park and check in. After lunch, you head out for an afternoon game drive.
Wildlife Spotting: Black and white rhinos, pelicans, flamingos, Rothschild's giraffes, buffalo, waterbucks and leopards.
Evening
You return to your lodge at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2 Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha & Hell's Gate
Morning
After breakfast, you drive to Lake Naivasha. You arrive late morning and check in.
Birdwatching: Spot over 400 bird species, including the African fish eagle.
Late Morning
You take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha. You see pods of hippos and many waterbirds. You stop at Crescent Island for a guided walking safari with giraffes, zebras and wildebeest.
Afternoon
You cycle through Hell's Gate National Park. You ride past cliffs and geothermal vents. You hike through the main gorge. You return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 3 Lake Naivasha to the Masai Mara
Morning
You finish breakfast and leave Lake Naivasha. You drive southwest to Masai Mara National Reserve. You cross the Rift Valley floor and Maasai land.
Afternoon
You arrive at your Mara lodge for lunch. After settling in, you head out for your first afternoon game drive.
Big Game Viewing: Watch herds of elephants, giraffes and grazers. Look for lions, cheetahs and leopards.
Evening
You return at sunset for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4 Full Day in the Masai Mara
Morning
After early coffee, you head out at sunrise. You spot predators on the move and catch prime light for photos.
Optional Hot Air Balloon Safari
At dawn, you can book a hot air balloon ride (extra cost). You float over the plains and enjoy a champagne breakfast in the bush.
Full-Day Game Drive
You return for breakfast, then set off with a picnic lunch. You reach the Mara River to see crocodiles, hippos and migration crossings (July–October). You eat your lunch at a scenic spot.
Day 5 Final Game Drive and Return to Nairobi
Morning
You take one last early game drive. You check out after breakfast.
Late Morning
You begin the drive back to Nairobi.
Afternoon
You arrive in Nairobi late afternoon. You end your Kenya safari and get dropped at your hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
